Cement making is energy intensive, requiring a huge amount of energy and fossil fuel. MIT startup Sublime Systems is developing a new, eco-friendly way of making cement.

Professor Yet-Ming Chiang, of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE), and former MIT postdoc Leah Ellis are making strides with Sublime Systems, which produces low-carbon cement. The startup’s innovation could mark a crucial step toward greener infrastructure.
